Many people vacation in Maine (that’s why it’s known as Vacationland!) and then start thinking about buying a home there. The hard part is how to know where you should look. While you may have loved where you visited (or even several different spots you have spent time in), Maine is a big state with lots of different areas, each with its own personality. There are eight recognized regions of Maine:
- Aroostook County
- Kennebec Valley
- Maine Highlands
- Maine Lakes And Mountains
- Acadia And Down East
- Maine Beaches
- Greater Portland And Casco Bay
- Mid-Coast – Brunswick & Harpswell (including Great Orr’s and Bailey Islands)
Depending on the lifestyle you are looking for and what kinds of amenities and activities are most important/appealing to you, certain regions may be more suitable than others.
